How to Create a Beautiful B'not Mitzvah

Posted by DJS Events

Two beautiful twins + the love of Victoria's Secret Pink fashion line = a blow-out B'not Mitzvah!

Alanah and Shainah's B'not Mitzvah  was an incredible success. As we go through the photos, we'll let you in on some tips and tricks to make your B'not just as special and pretty as this one!

1.) Color coordinate the stars of the evening. Both Alanah and Shainah's dresses were meticulously picked out to match the colors of the event. They cleverly chose dresses that were reverse versions of each other-absolutely perfect!

2.) To help the girls stand out, the guests were asked to wear neutral black, white and silvers. The result is eye-popping and picture perfect!

3.) Coordinate themed colors with bold patterns to keep from getting too monotonousness.

4.) Bring forth those patterns on the details! Adding a little glitter and glamour like sparkles and jewels (in moderation) keeps things sparkling but steers away from being gaudy.

5.) Using simple props can create a classy, beautiful touch. These mannequins were an affordable way to keep in the theme of the Pink fashion line. We created the books from Kodak.com, and used white space on the pages for the guests to write messages.

6.) DJS affairs are never short on talent- make sure you get a band or DJ that can engage with the kids and get them in on the entertainment. The photo says it all- these kids had a blast!

7.) Getting a matching cake isn't terribly hard when you can give the baker some direction with color and theme continuity. The cake to our right was done perfectly, even with Alanah and Shainah's crest to boot!

8.) Theme color flowers in small glass jars and vases are an inexpensive and clever way to bring in color and delicacy.

9) Ice Sculptures bring beauty and a touch of elegance to the party.

10.) Make sure the parents get a special shot all their own- after all, this is a memorable day for them as well!

Randi Fenoli, Orfeh and Valerie Smaldone at the Woof Woof Wedding!

Posted by DJS Events

The Woof Woof Wedding was a great success, benefiting The North Shore Animal League and Waggy Tails Rescue!
All photos courtesy of Denisimo Photgraphy & Video

Randy Fenoli was our guest of honor and the puppies said their "bow wow vows" with Valerie Smaldone as the Justice of the Pooch. We were so grateful that they gave of their time for these important and much needed charities.

Orfeh & Andy, Broadway actors, were the proud parents of "Boo" the groom. Dawn Strain and Rudy Holesak were the proud  parents of "Piper" the bride.

Twenty-Four Fifth were the gracious hosts for the fundraiser and Lydia ZDROK was the cake designer. As many of you know, we had a cake design contest and the "A day in the dog park" won.  Lydia ZDROK is the cake designer for Bridgewaters and Twenty Four Fifth.

The doggies precious outfits

Piper walks down the aisle with a dress from Kleinfeld Bridal, who generously created the bride & grooms outfits.

Table Art & Designs sculpted floral replicas of Piper and Boo!

It was a blast raising money for such worthy, wonderful causes!

Thanks again to Event Journal for sponsoring the online fundraising journal!

Woof Woof Wedding Cake Winning Design

Posted by DJS Events

You voted, and the results are in! The Woof Woof Wedding cake design chosen is #2- "A Day in the Dog Park."

Here's what The Glazier Group of Twenty Four Fifth had to say about the cake:

"The inspiration behind this cake started as a walk through one of the many  New York City dog park’s.   With a whimsical twist my inspiration began.  The cake starts inside as a decadent chocolate cake with a milk chocolate ganache filling.  The two tiered cake will be covered with a
thin layer of white rolled fondant, and then each individual tier will be decorated and enhanced with hand sculpted and painted figures.  The hand sculpted gum paste figures, are of New York City in the springtime with the trees blooming, wooden park benches, blue skies and of course the New York City Skyline.  Last but not least we incorporate the “bride and groom” Piper and Boo as they start the beginning of their lives together atop this Springtime masterpiece."

The assembly of this cake will average roughly four days of labor, with time for each gum paste figure to dry and be intricately incorporated onto the cake."

Randy Fenoli, Orfeh and DJS at Kleinfeld Bridal

Posted by DJS Events

The Woof Woof Wedding is only five days away, but don't worry-- Piper and Boo aren't getting cold feet--or noses!

At their fitting at Kleinfeld Bridal, the puppy couple were caught making eyes at each other all day. Dawn Strain, our founder and president at DJS Events (and mother of the bride), was joined by Orfeh (mother of the groom), the Broadway actress best known for her role as Paulette in Legally Blonde, the Musical. Randy Fenoli, host of Say Yes To The Dress and fashion director of Kleinfeld's Bridal Salon joined in on the fun, too! The Woof Woof Wedding is proud and excited to have Randy as the guest of honor.

In the photo below,Vera Skenderis, the Greek-born alterations manager at Kleinfeld, brings out the human version of the dress Piper will be wearing so everyone could take a peek. Made of organza with a satin lining, it was designed by the furrier Dennis Basso and will adjusted to fit Piper's little frame.

Bridal fittings are fabulous, and Piper's was no exception. Here she is, with her tiny veil and crystal collar, which counts as "something new." Piper and Boo will be exchanging their collars instead of rings.

In the photo to the left, Little Boo poses with his collar and bow tie.
Piper and Boo are equally excited to be getting married and also helping to raise funds for their canine friends at The North Shore Animal League and Waggytail Rescue. So far, the Woof Woof Wedding has been covered by the Wall Street Journal, CBS and Crains.

Piper looks at the all the beautiful jewelry!

Dawn, Orfeh and Randy Fenoli discuss dresses, doggies and the big day ahead...

Only a few days left to get your tickets! Go here to buy them and learn more about the event!
